    Hi All,

I have been having a consistent problem every time I use Premiere. That is it hangs for a period of 10-30 seconds every time I start it, or when ever I switch between 2 programs (such as switching from after effects to premiere). After the hang it works as per usual, but it is having major impacts on my workflow as I often work between two Adobe programs at a time. I am only editing DV footage and after effects renders, so I can’t see that I am pushing the computer past its limits.
I didn’t have this problem when I was using Premiere Pro 1.5 – Only since moving to 2.0.

Here is the configuration of my computer:
    P4 3.2 Ghz Processor w / HT
3GB of RAM (Virtual memory set to 3801MB as recommended by windows)
    1 x 300GB operating drive
2 x 300GB video drives in a mirrored RAID array
    ATI Radeon 9550 Graphics card
    Windows XP Professional
    Standard OHCI firewire card

I should be receiving Production Studio CS3 soon (As I was elegible for the free post-announce upgrade) so will no doubt have to perform a fresh install of everything then.

Any help guys would be really appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tim.

It happens to me too. It has to do with memory swapping I think, which is why I am glad I have a 10K rpm system drive. And I am thinking of going to 15K rpm.

    Thanks for your imput Steve,

But surely there must be another fix for the solution than to get 15K RPM system drives. Last time I read the specs on Premiere I can’t remember reading the need for it.

And I’d be really surprised if everyone out there without 15K RPM or even 10K RPM drives was having the same problem.

It depends on the type of media, the amount of media, etc.
