    Hi
I currently have windows installed on a 74GB 10K RPM Raptor, a 250GB disk for captures and another 250GB disk for documents\backups used as a scratch disk for all premiere previews, media cache ect.
I’m reinstalling windows soon, and was wondering if I may get better performance if I install windows on one of the 250GB disks and use the Raptor as a scratch disk instead.
    Many thanks in advance.

Better performance?? Are you having issues??
Your setup should work fine with SD DV.

No, I’m not having any issues, but I am working frequently with lots of layers , effects and high resolution targa sequences.
I know that I’ll eventually need a fast raid setup but I can’t afford one right now.
I was just wondering if the Raptor would be put to better use as a scratch disk instead of a system disk or not (74GB is too small to use as a capture disk), that’s all 🙂

Don’t change anything. A Raptor filled with more than 50% of its capacity will be slower than a 250 GB drive filled to 30%.
