Photoshop link from PPro CS3
Posted by Payner44 on July 9, 2007 at 12:04 pmI just installed the PPro CS3 and played with the set up. I do not have the ability to select the “edit in Photoshop” option for stills (greyed out), only the “edit original”. Are others seeing this issue? Is there a fix know?

July 11, 2007 at 11:40 amMight be a problem with the order of installing the apps, but Edit Original will launch Photoshop if you have Window’s file associations for the file types set to PS.

July 11, 2007 at 12:28 pmMike, I am aware of your suggestion, but thanks anyway. However, it bothers me when stuff doesn’t work the way it should. I tried a “repair” re-install of Photoshop, but it didn’t help. I hope it’s not a question of needing Photoshop CS3 for this, because I don’t have a need to upgrade this app.

Yup…Edit in PS command looks for CS3…Edit Original looks for the app that is associated with the file type (.psd). In my case both are the same.

Like Mike said it is very similar to “edit original”, the difference is “edit original” includes other applications, where “edit in photoshop” is photoshop specific, to “edit in photoshop” the image has to be a format that photoshop can use and you have to select it on the timeline or in the bin, then it shouldn’t be greyed out. -

July 11, 2007 at 7:10 pmMy issue is most likely because of PPro CS3 looking for Photoshop CS3. Does anyone know how to edit this behaviour, so as to make PPro CS3 look for Photoshop CS2 (which is what I use)…TIA!

July 13, 2007 at 7:38 pmI’m having a similar issue with the “Edit Original” selection when dealing with AE Comps in my projects (CS3 Production Premium user here, by the way). It too is grayed out… weird.
Anyone?
