Hello and thanks in advance for any advice.

I have an hour long video project, heavy on the rendering, that needs to be re-edited.

When I first finished it, I simply copied everything and pasted on an external hard drive.

I’ve since transferred it back to the internal hard drive on the computer I’m editing with.

When I open the project, PP 2.0 keeps asking me to relink the media and while it seems to find the render files too, the entire project has to be re-rendered, which is awfully inconvenient.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Rendered files or “preview files’ are usually saved in a separate folder, as specified in your scratch disk preferences. You will probably have to render again.

Next time you leave a project alone for a while , you should use the Project Manager (Project > Project manager) . This will allow you to consolidate all your project files in one folder, as well as include your audio and video previews.

    Cheers,

    Vince

    Thanks for the info.

I think I did actually use the project manager when archiving the original project (it’s been a year or so ago and i edit every blue moon or so).

I used the “trim” function to consolidate it. Is this not the same thing?

There is a “remove unused” function in the project menu, and that’s all it does.

The project manager will allow you to copy everything to a new folder, and you can check an option to keep the preview files as well.
