I just purchased a Sony DCR-SR200 40gig hard drive camcorder. Since it’s a HD camcorder it does not use firewire. To take footage from the camera to my editing computer I simply drag and drop. My problem arises when I import my video from the camera (Mpeg 2 format) into my Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 editing software. It simply freezes up the progam and will not recognize it.

Can anybody help guide me through how to solve this problem? Is there a setting I am missing in the software to “allow” this format to be edited. It works in Windows Movie Maker and I can export it as an AVI, but what a pain!

    Please Advise…

This format is meant for display, not editing. Either use Elements, which is more suited to consumer formats, or get a different camera.
