So, I’m fairly new to Premiere Pro, only had it a few months and I just recently realized I had kind of a major problem. If I import more than 75 video clips (short clips, none more than a minute long), it starts converting the video clips to audio clips. (If the clips have no sound, as most of them do, they just become blank, soundless clips the length of the supposed video clip, if they’re video and audio, they are altered to only audio clips and can be played as thus).

I have tried opening new projects with various settings, but always when I hit the 75 bench mark, it starts converting to audio, doesn’t matter clip length or source or anything, from what I can tell.

Anyone else encounter this problem or know a possible solution or have I uniquely hosed my program like I’ve done to so many others…

What kind of codec are we talking about ? No problems here with DV, or uncompressed.

I’m using the Xvid codec currently. I was originally using Dvix, but it was taking forever to load (ten minutes or more for a two minute project)

There is your problem. Use MS-DV AVI type 2 or another program.
