Transcoding progress?? How long………..
I began the “Export to DVD” process about 26 hours ago. In the first 15-20 minutes it lit up 5 segments of the transcoding bar; I still have the same 5 segments, and nothing in the progress bar. How can I tell if it’s still doing anything? When I burned a quickie, single pass test DVD it finished in a few hours-I read some posts about taking 30 hours or more to do a 90 minute high quality copy, but shouldn’t I see some kind of progress?? The project is about 94 minutes, and contains a couple titles and 2 stills, but no fancy special effects or anything else.
This is on a brand new computer with Intel Viiv Core 2 Duo E6400/2G ram/ dual 250g hard drives,and Nvidia GeForce 7600GT. The only thing installed is Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Encore DVD, and Adobe Photoshop CS2. HELP!! -

What does Task Manager indicate for Premiere? CPU usage? Not responding?
Try using the “burn to folder” option and then use your burning app to finish. -

Task Manager is only showing 0-2% CPU 135,340K mem. usage.
I’m guessing nothing is happening here. -
I have seen problems with Premiere and burning DVDs with error messages but nothing about just stopping. Often another disc burning app is the culprit, especially Sonic and Roxio.
My workflow involves using Premiere to generate the elementary streams (Media Encoder) for use in Encore. The biggest advantage with Encore is Dolby audio encoding. -

I know pretty much ZERO about this video stuff, but my buddies decided since I was the photo guy it would be my job to create a video to market. I had a hard enough time trying put all the footage together in a semi-coherent form, now I have to deal with this! I re-started the burn to see what would happen; doing it just as the first time, I got farther in 3 minutes than in the 36+ hours I let the first one run. Got 8 segments lit on the transcode bar and 1 segment of the progress bar before it went back to sleep.
When I first started it was using 97% CPU and almost all 2G, then it went back down to 0-2% CPU.
My hard drives can be set-up in a RAID configuration(currently not)
Can I do that now, or should it have been done before I started this whole thing? Thanks, Mike M. -
It should not take more than about 2 hours for the entire process. I suspect the burn process is where things are hanging up, but to verify that choose Burn to “Folder” in the Burn DVD window.

I’m burning one now in a single pass test sorta mode and it is moving right along- CPU usage between 50-71%, PF usage is at 1.07.
I tried a several times to burn one with everything set in the best mode and it will go to 97-100% CPU and up to 1.5G on PF usage–3 minutes into the burn it drops to 0 CPU usage everytime, and no more progress. Am I running out of resources? I’m tearing my hair out!! Thaks, Mike M.
