I just made a major upgrade from a single 3.1 Ghz HT Dell with 1 gig of RAM to a duel 3.2 ghz Xeon Dell with 4 gigs of RAM. I was hoping for a major improvement in the performance with Premiere, but it seems to be about the same as far as rendering goes. After effects runs great. Are there any settings/adjustments that I could make to get Premiere to really cook on this monster?

    Maybe Premiere Pro 3.0

2.0 does not utilize your dual exhaust nor the dual quad carbs.

I’m also looking to improve my Premiere Pro render time as well at After Affects. I have not yet upgraded. Mike, are you saying there is nothing Mr. Burns can do to improve his systems performance? I’d like to know what can?

I recently taught a class for Premiere using 14 new dual Xeon 3.2 HT machines. Timeline playback was awesome, but task manager showed less than 25% CPU usage for all 4 processors during rendering. Pro just is not optimized to take full advantage of the power like AE.
