  To Interlace or not to interlace, this is my question!

  Hi,
  I’m in a little bit of a muddle.
  I have created a movie with video parts and titles, text like job titles or credits, in PP2.

  The video is for playing on the PC, not TV.

  Here is what happens – If I deinterlace:
  The video zigzag lines on the moving video footage go away, great!
  But when the text loses its quality and becomes unreadable.

  If I interlace:
  The video has the zigzag lines when anything moves.
  But the text is crystal clear.

  Are there any tricks I’m missing, or doing something wrong in PP2. Is there anyway to interlace the text and deinterlace the video parts only???

  ANy suggestions would be greatly appreiated.

  Hi again,

  I have found a video effect in PP2 called ‘Field Interpolate’, in the ‘Video’ folder under the Video Effects list.

  It seems to do the trick of applying the deinterlace to the selected video parts that I apply it to.

  Is it ok to then export the video interlaced (the deinterlace box unticked) so that the text is clear and the video is deinterlaced from the video effect? Will there be any complications when playing the video on a PC?

  I just use the filed options for the video that you get to by right-clicking on the clip in the sequence. Select Always Deinterlace.
