What is the professional way of importing an image into Premiere?
(For PAL) I’ve scanned the my 35mm still image then resized in Photoshop to 702×576 with DV PAL pixel aspect ratio and saved as a .JPG.
Import into Premiere, Interpret Footage at DV PAL then Scale the image to fit within the safe margins.

The image quality looks poor and I’m not happy about cropping the sides to fit into video format.

    How would you do it?

    PAL is 720×576, not 702x 576.

Thanks. I was using this guide but forgot that DV is of course a digital process.

There is no “professional” way. Start with a high quality image and then proceed from there.

[jEaster] “The image quality looks poor”

If you are viewing it on a computer monitor at other than its natural resolution it will look crappy, to view video correctly you should preview it on a external video/tv monitor for best results.
