  Advice for a Newcomer!

  Hi there!

  I hope I’m asking a question that has already been mentioned on this forum. My apologies if this is the case. I am trying to get into video editing. I have completed some small projects, but realise that my current PC isn’t sufficient for the work that I would like to do. I have a couple of questions:
  (i) Which is best for running Adobe Premiere Pro – AMD or Intel, and why?
  (ii) Below is the spec that I had come up with – does anyone think this is sufficient – would you recommend and changes?
  – Antec NSK1300 ATX Cube Case – 300W PSU
  – ASUS M2NPV-VM Micro ATX (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
  – AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.20GHz (Socket AM2)
  – ASUS GeForce EN7300GS-HTD 256MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express)
  – Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache – OEM

  – Crucial 2-512MB 240-PIN DIMM 64MX64 DDR2

  – Turnkey ECHO GINA 3G Audio Interface G31737686

  (iii) Would a MAC perform better than a PC with video editing?

  300 W PSU is too puny…400-450 I recommend.
  I prefer Intel over AMD, experience has shown too many niggling issues with AMD for video editing.
  You dont need an expensive video card or TV out, but recommend dual monitors or 1 wide screen. 128 MB Nvidia is adequate.
  You will want a lot more hard drive…add a 400 GB for video files.
  1GB RAM is fine excpet for long projects or HDV…2GB works better.
  Premiere wont work on a MAC.
