I work on a studio for TV commercials, and we send our material to a local TV, they say our videos are a little dark and asked us to correct it.
How to professionally correct the color for Broadcast.
Should I use Vectorscope? Hnow does it work?

Thanks for the help, I’m new at this subject.

    [Reloaded] “Hnow does it work?”

Now that is a very technical question. First, ask them what their technical specifications are and then start color correcting. Each studio has different requirements.

What do you do when you have to correct a TV commercial?
By the way, are you a video editor?

    Thanks for any help.

To get a answer you should describe your delivery format for one, like Aanarav said not all stations want the same format, second: are you viewing your edits on a external calibrated video monitor before finalizing? you just have to touch up the Luma.

Go to the Preview monitor, and change the display to YC Waveform. Your video should be distributed between 7.5 and 100 IRE’s

You can correct this by using the level plugin, or you could try auto level, but I wouldn’t recommend it if that’s going to TV.

Using the level plugin, and keeping your display on YC waveform, lower the RGB, white input level.

I would take a look at the help file for other adjustments.

It would nice if you could post some screen caps of you YC waveform and video as well.

As someone mentioned above, if you don’t have a broadcast monitor handy, things will be a lot harder to fix.

If you don’t have a website hosting service, you can use any of the free online image hosts.

I personally like this one, no registration: https://tinypic.com/

Again, to go back to the posts above, I do agree with Aanarav that you probably should get a broadcast requirements sheet from the station. We can give you more specific directions from that. Otherwise, you may find yourself going back and forth as different technicians take a look at it at the station.

But that could be fun too 😉

    Cheers,

    Vince
