I’m trying to capture video using a VCR and a Conexant V-Stream 2388x capture card and I’m having problems capturing video using Premiere Pro. When I open the capture window I don’t see the video and all the controls are grayed out (record, play, etc). At the top of the capture window it says “capture device offline.” What does this mean and could this be why I don’t see anything? I use this same set up with Premiere 6.5 and it works but not with Premiere Pro for some reason. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

I would email Adobe to see if it is supported by Premiere Pro. Many, many devices were dropped in the Pro upgrades, especially 2.0.

Does this particular device have a firewire interface? If not, then it won’t be recognized by Premiere Pro.

it doesn’t have a firewire interface so it looks like i’m going to have to get a new card. do you have any recommendations for a reasonably priced video capture card that will work with premiere pro? i’m going to be doing a lot of capturing from a vcr so once i get a new card with a firewire interface how would i hook the vcr up to it? i’d go out of my vcr with an rca wire but how do i plug it into the capture card? do they make wires that are rca on one end and firewire on the other?

    thanks for all the help.

[sinchmike] “reasonably priced video capture card”

Take a look at the Canopus ADVC products. All of them seem to do a decent job.
