Pro 2 SLOWS to CRAWL when timeline grows (Ripple Edit and Extract tools)
This is a very serious problem that I’ve had in Pro 2, as well as in Pro 1.5 — but not in Pro 1. It’s forcing me and my collaborator to all go back to Pro 1!
If the timeline is short — say 10 minutes — then all is fine.
But all hell breaks loose with longer timelines (say, over 30 minutes) 😡
The Extract tool (set IN, set OUT and extract) starts taking absurd amounts of times. I’ve measured over 20 seconds!! During this time the CPU is spinning around at 100% !! Doing what?!?
Doing a Ripple Edit operation near the end of the timeline is fine, even with longer timelines. But if that operation is performed on a clip earlier in time, it takes progressively longer — as if “weighed down” by the number of clips after it :O)
Moving tracks with the Track Select tool has the same behavior: fine if near the timeline’s end; otherwise, painfully slow.
Even more puzzling, the UNDO operations take the same absurdly long times as the original operations!!!
Memory is not an issue: the “Commit Charge” in the Windows Task Manager is showing around 600 MB, and I have 1 GB.
Any help/insight is greatly appreciated!
