Media Encoder Changes my Aspect Ratio
Hi, I’m having a strange problem.
I’m trying to export some footage via the adobe media encoder into Quicktime NTSC DV. The primary reason I’m going via the encoder and not the export movie function is because the reduce video noise tab in the encoder works very well with the footage I have. I set all option as should be 720 X 480, lower fields first, aspect ratio D1/NTSC DV codec: Apple DV/DVCPRO NTSC. The video preview looks correct. When I render, however, the footage appears squished horizontally as if a pixel aspect ration correction took place. Any suggestions? As I mentioned, the main reason for my using the encoder is to access the video noise reduction function, so is there maybe another means of doing that? Thanks in advance.

There is an easy way to reduce video noise, add a little bet of guaussian blur to the blue channel(I did say “Little”) and play with it until you get what you are looking for. Many noise reducers actually use this exact technique. Your method might actually end up adding noise since you are likely recompressing the video.
