    Hey folks,

I’m having a bit(understatment) of difficulty with the titler. I’m working on a movie with Chinese characters along with English for titles and when I click on the two text boxes and then try and drag them or right click and center them, premiere Pro 2.0 stops dead. It locks up my whole system. I eventually had to hard boot the whole thing. I went through this cycle four times until I just decided fine. I’ll work with one text block at a time and no double selected item right clicking. Things are working fine. I have to say that I’ve had trouble with the titler since version 6.5 and on multiple systems. I get the feeling that people in here don’t like to hear negative on adobe but it sure does seem that their software is never “fully” functional and I feel punished for purchasing the Video Bundle premium.

Anyway, does anyone know of a fix or other? It really makes me gun-shy to relax and create when this stuff “always” happens. It really does seem like anytime I try to relax and just use the program I run into this and that and.

Before you ask. Yes the system is clean of spyware, viruses. This system is just a stand alone workstation. Windows XP SP2, Dual Xeon with 2 GB RAM ( I know that’s not much), SCSI hard drives, up to date ATI driver for Fire X1 card.

If you create a brand new project and create a new title, can you get it to crash just with two text boxes? Using “normal” fonts like Arial?

thanks for your quick response. I’ll try the new project with basic fonts. This morning when I awoke I though, “maybe I turned off something in MSconfig” that it needed on startup. I turned everything back on… gamma loader etc. Still had same problem with old project.

    I’ll try your idea tonight.

    cheers,

Try a different playback setting. eg Compatible Mode.

Click the drop down menu from the Source Monitor to access playback settings.

We have been having problems with the titler also. I installed a new C drive recently, so all software is fairly fresh. But since the new drive went into service, the titler has been acting funny, even on newly created projects. If you move a background item, like a simple colored rectangle, sometimes fonts above it will change size or tracking. Maddening!! Seems like the more complex the title, the more problems we have. I was ready to blame it on our Matrox cards, but I’m not sure if that’s the case now.

Hope we both find a cure!

Here’s what I’m doing for the meantime. I think that my using Arial and then SimSung (for my chinese text) is causing the titler to die. so I’m not going to do anything where I have to move both simultaneously. so I will click on the arial.. edit it.. move it.. etc. Then click on the SimSung and do the same. Shift clicking and then … there is no then. The application goes into a tailspin.

p.s. Anyone know or remember the website to make suggestions to adobe?

    Cheers,
    Paul
