Premiere Pro 2 does not import AE7 Targa Sequences
Posted by Duncan on May 3, 2006 at 8:36 amPremiere Pro 2 does not import AE7 Targa Sequences, am I missing something. Rendered out an image sequence and Premiere Pro 2 just imports it as a static frame. There used to be a check box, import as sequence.
This is from the manual, but it dont work and ‘numbered stills’ does not appear or is not selectable.
To import numbered still-image files as one clip
Make sure that each still-image file name contains an equal number of digits at the end and has the correct file extensionPiero Lavo replied 12 years, 9 months ago 9 Members · 14 Replies -

May 3, 2006 at 11:26 amAre you using dual-monitors with Premiere stretched across both of them? Shrink the application window down to the primary monitor only, maximize the window and then try again to import the sequence. If that doesn’t bring back the Numbered Stills checkbox, repeat the process on the secondary monitor. Somewhere along the line, fiddling with maximizing/restoring the application window on a single monitor should bring the checkbox back.

May 3, 2006 at 11:49 amIt works absolutely fine for me.
Just click on the first of the numbered.tga files, select the numbered stills box and whammo, instantly in the bin as a single media file.
If it is greyed out, the files are not named as required. Use irfanview to quickly rename them correctly.
Mark.

May 3, 2006 at 12:13 pmI noticed the same problem. It suddenly reappeared one day, and I bet what Jeff said is correct.

May 3, 2006 at 10:10 pmHy.
PPRO2 has some bugs! or after 7.
Try using an other file format like png wich has alpha channel, lossless compression and 48bits color sampling possible.
Hope this helps you.
for premultiplied, select it in interpretation footage.
regards

May 4, 2006 at 8:51 amThis is not a bug. As Jeff mentioned above, move your window from one monitor to another.

May 4, 2006 at 3:50 pmwhy would having the app strectched across 2 monitors…causing a check box in a seperate dialog not be considered a bug?
seems like a bug to me….not an obvious thing I’d find in the manual…
oh here it is on pg 157….
“to enable the number stills option please reduce the adobe host applicaton window to a single monitor and try moving it from one monitor to the other”
makes perfect sense 😉

May 4, 2006 at 4:07 pmI have no problem using the app across two monitors, so perhaps Adobe followed the rules, but some of the video card drivers don’t? That is kind of hard for Adobe to deal with unless they figure out a workaround. And a workaround should not be necessary. That makes it hard to justify spending engineering resources on the issue.

May 5, 2006 at 8:18 pmThis is not only in Premiere Pro. Same thing with After Effects. This has something to do with hardware limitations. I for one, don’t have a problem going across both monitors BUT, when I use an ATI card at one of the studios, the box doesn’t show up. Also, you don;t have to “shrink” your workspace to one monitor. Simply move the box from the secondary screen to the primary screen.

Hi Aanarav,
On my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, I have to move the whole main app window from one monitor to the other, not just the import dialog box. Is that what you meant?
