Has anyone cut footage shot on a Canon XL H1 in 24F mode, using the Aspect HD 1080 24p mode? And if so, any feed back. I’m most interested in how it compares to the Panasonic 24P. Especially if it looks like the HDv version of that format.

I haven’t edited any of it, but we did test shoot the XL-H1 beside a DVX-100 and compare the 24p motion and it appears to be very similar…and this from a diehard cinematographer who is an unabashed fan of the DVX-100.

I have no reason to believe that editing it in Aspect would affect the look negatively…

Quoting from various tests I’ve read about the XL-H1 in comparison to other HDV camera’s, the main advantages of the Canon are in the following area’s:

    1. Full size CCD’s
    2. Large zoom range with the standard lens
    3. Exchangeable lenses
    4. Very good auto-focus
    5. HD-SDI
    6. Audio capabilities
    7. Shoulder camera

and the major drawback is that it is front heavy.
