  • Dynamic Link Import from AE?

When I copy and paste from PP2.0 to AE 7 it places a lot of black at the head of the comp. Then when I save and import back into PP it comes in with all that black at the head and then black all the way to the end of the comp. I could change the length of the comp to eliminate the black at the tail, but why does it add all the black at the head? Do I really have to trim it out everytime I do this? How do I avoid all this extra black?

I haven’t seen ths problem. Are you sure that your comp doesn’t have a black head and tail?

I use the Dynamic Link “New AE Comp” in PP and then copy a single clip from my sequence. Just highlight the comp in AE and paste and it automatically ads the black at the head or the tail — it seems to be placing the clip at the same time in the comp as it was in the PP sequence — which is not very useful.

If you follow those steps do you not get the same things? Is there a betetr way to do it?

It puts the clip you copied into the same location on the AE timeline that it was on the PPro timeline. Just put the CTI in AE at the beginning and press the “[” key. That will bring the clip to the beginning. Then you can set the workarea to cover the clip and trim the comp duration to the workarea.

or you can push the “B” key and the “N” key to set your comp in and out points. That should do the trick
