I opened a movie file, trying to capture some clips from it. however, when I tried to inch forward frame by frame (as I usually do), it skipped ten to twenty frames at once, which makes it impossible for a precision capture, and also results in a choppy playback.

it’s odd, because as far as I can tell, the video is no different than the other videos I’ve clipped, so I have no idea how to fix this. help, please?

Is your video Mpeg? Mpeg has no frames as such, only Groups of Pictures (GOPs) which are 10-20 frames in length, but only contains one actual frame. Makes editing a pain. Convert to DV.avi and then edit.

Is it possible that frames where dropped during capture? Sounds like the frames are just missing.
