My Adobe Studio upgrade box has arrived and after reading all reviews I have realised I have to make some changes. My Canopus DVstorm is history (no new drivers coming), my video card does not support AE7 high-fidelity.
My old drives 2x120GB Seagate serial ATA and 2x150GB Seagate SCSI should be good to re-use

this is a video editing station only

I am looking at leaving Intel (presently dual 2.66 Xeon)and going to dual AMD Opteron 275 on a TYAN Thunder K8WE with on board SCSI, 4GB Kingston, eVGA e-GeForce 7800 GT video card, Enermax Liberty (620W) Power Supply. Also looking at Tide Water liquid cooling for low noise.

Since I am DV input via firewire to Sony DSR25 at present – I can use decks S-Video out for my CRT monitor, but obviously HD looms in the future.

Anyone using the AMD Opteron 200 series or the Tyan boards – that can comment good or bad choice ?

Anyone using dual video card for fast AE7 preview ?

    Comments welcome

I am not familiar with AMD boards, but make sure that it has the SSE2 instruction set. Although, considering the proposed specs, you should be fine, but checking it once again doesn’t hurt.
