  Importing from dv camera to PC frame skipping problem

  Hi there. I’ve got a JVC miniDV recorder, and it’s great, works fine. When I use the AV output to plug it inot my telly, I can watch everything perfectly, but when I plug it inot my PC with my firewire cable I always lose loads of frames recording it to my pc. I’ve got a high end PC, plenty of ram and a big hdd, so i don’t really know what the problem is. I searched for help but couldn’t really find any, I don’t think it’s my cable or anything, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot, Edd.

  What is the model # of the JVC deck? Also, I am assuming that the JVC is a deck and not a camera.

  Make sure firewalls and virus scanners are turned off while capturing. Also defrag the HD first.
