Posted by John D zupan on January 10, 2006 at 2:36 pm

I am trying to load HD video fottage from a JVC GR-HDI-U video camera into Premier Pro Axio HD system.
I have my project settings set to HD 16×9 and my input settings are set to Matrox 1394 I can not see any video or hear any audio when I try to input the HD footage I have contol of the camera functions throu the fire wire but no video or audio. I have tried to load SD tape form the same camera and everything worked fine. I have tried lokking for an output option on the camera menu setting but there were no options.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks
    John

You may want to post the issue in the Axio forum.

I would give you input but PPro running on Axio is more an Axio system than a PPro system and I don’t have an Axio…

If you buy a CineForm system and break that…call me.

    🙂

    Good luck with your issue.

There’s no reply on that forum because there is NO POST on that forum. . .I’m talking about the Matrox Forum here at the COW

What version of Axio are you using?

Did you create the project as a Matrox-HD, 720P 59.94 based project?

I capture from a Sony Z1, FX1, HC1 @ 1080i without any problem on my Axio but have never tried the JVC @ 720.

I just found this on the Matrox based forum site:

    Hi John,

Could you tell us what format your HDV video is on your camera?

You can capture HDV video shot at a 1080 60i or 1080 50i format. Some cameras shoot at a 720P HDV format which is not supported with Matrox Axio.

If your footage was shot in a 1080 60i format you would choose the Axio HDV preset listed under Matrox-HD–>1080i–>29.97.
If your footage was shot in a 1080 50i format you would choose the Axio HDV preset listed under Matrox-HD–>1080i–>25.

Please let us know if this helps.

    Regards,

    Chris.

I am a bit surprised by this since there seems to be a setting for 720P @c 59.94 in the project options, but what do I know : )

    Thanks Larry

Sorry I posted my question on the Matrox site not on the Cow
I Did call Matrox tech support and after over 2 hrs of trying everything the conculusion was that the footage was shot at 720p. The JVC web sit says that the is a setting in the camera menu that converts the 720p to 1080i, I set the camera up to do that but I am getting the same results.
I have 17hrs of tape here and we are set to start editing a 1hr documentary,so now I have to figure out the best way of transfering this so that I can get the footage into the Axio system

    Thanks
    John

From what I can read in the manual

OUTPUT TERMINAL MENU set to Component (component cable must be connected)

HDV PB OUTPUT menu set to 1080i

    No 1080i thru firewire.

    Hope that helps
