Does anyone know if anybody makes some kind of ‘gizinta’ for an 8mm cassette (other than the camera, of course) that I can use to capture for editing? Boss handed me the tape (of a friend) who wants a dvd and probably lots of editing (like when they had it running in the camera bag)…

Spent about an hour online and onphone (sheesh, that was an experience!) to no avail.

    Thanks in advance,

the “gizinta” would be an 8mm vcr, very resonably available on ebay

    Thanks Larry,

Been asking around here and may have a lead on a ‘loaner camera’ to git me through the night, so to speak. Will probably never get another request like this (famous last words)…

    Thanks again!

If you can find/borrow a digital-8 camcorder you can playback and convert the 8mm directly to DV and capture via firewire, sometimes you can find one in a pawnshop.
