I’m running Premiere Pro 1.5 on three different systems. Tried capturing DV footage played out of a Sony HDV deck (in DV mode of course) and captured via 1394 cable into Premiere. Premiere asks me to save clip, click OK, program shuts down. Open program, try to import clip just captured (which plays fine in WMP), click OK, program shuts down. I’ve tried the standard Adobe standard DV preset as well as a Blackmagic DV preset and a Matrox DV preset. Same result everytime. Any clues? Thanks.

System: Intel Xeon dual 2.0GHz, 2 GB ram, Windows XP Pro.

Is this happening on all three systems or just the one system? If it is just one computer, try re-installing the program.

Have you tried capturing the DV clip on the same system from another deck. These Sony decks are new and I’d be curious to see if the deck can be eliminated as a cause first off…

Found out it was a problem with MetaSan software. I could capture DV footage in two instances: 1. everything captures locally; 2. the capture station was booted up as the MetaData controller. Strange thing though, Premiere only shuts down when capturing DV, not HDV, even though footage is coming out of the same deck. Maybe I should try a different DV deck…

    Thanks for your input.
