Hi, Im pretty much a newb when it comes to AE (im using version 5.0 unfortunately) but am trying to learn what i can through various books and tutorials. I was having a go at the 3D Grid/Video Screen tutorial (2003) and am having no success in getting the results i should. I do everything as described in the tutorial up until the point where it says ‘do a RAM preview, and you should get a nice flowing line effect.’ The preview is running but all i have is a black screen in the comp window. When i then try to go on and disregard this, and add the the Fractal Grid comp to the 3D grid comp, the ‘nice flowing line’ still fails to appear.

Any ideas what i may be doing wrong? Is it an AE version problem because im using 5.0? Any help would be really appreciated. Sorry if this isnt enough info to be of use!
    Cheers

Where did you first get the black screen? I ran thru the tut, and making the “Fractal Grid” comp, I could see something at every step. So where does yours go black, the mistake is probably at that point.

I didn’t know they had Fractal Noise back in AE5, but that was before I met AE.
