Here is a question about track matte.
    I have a clip on v1 and v2
I have a softedge circle graphic(psd) on track three with the track matte effect applied to V2
This works fine until I try to move the circle on V3 using the motion effect in order to expose a different part of V2
The V3 matte does not move. It seems that it gets its position information from the original graphic and ignores the motion effect.
I can move V1 in the window but this is not the effect I want.
Is there another way of doing this?

Unlike earlier Premieres, PPro rqeuires moving matte clips to be embedded in a separate sequence before the motion ‘takes’. Something to do with using After Effects code.

Put the moving matte clip into a new sequence and use the sequence on the main timeline in place of the matte clip.

Must be in the FAQs by now.

thanks, this works but it is very difficult to position the circle when you have to do it in the matte sequence and you can’t see the underlying video. I guess I’ll have to go to AE but i thought that this simple effect could be done on the timeline in PPro

    It’s a matter of organisation.

If you copy the underlying clip into the matte sequence, you can set it all up by seeing the mask without the matte applied overlayting the target clip as you set up the motion keyframes. Then disable the clip track in the matte sequence and apply the sequence as the matte.
