  “Resetting time code” for quicktime files

  Hi,

  Does anyone know if there’s a way of resetting the time code on quicktime files?

  Let me explain:
  I have a 10bit 4:2:2 (aja codec) file, that has been captured elsewhere from DigiBeta. To ease the load on my computer, I’ve reencoded it to Microsoft DV using canopus procoder 2, and am going to edit it in Premiere Pro 1.5. The time code in the DV file starts from zero, whereas the 10 bit file starts from the media timecode from the Beta tape. In the past I’ve solved this by dropping it into a sequence i Final Cut and exporting it to a self contained quicktime 10bit 4:2:2 movie, thus “resetting” the time code. This is however very time consuming, and I’m thinking there’s got to be an easier way of just resetting the header of the 10bit 4:2:2 file or something. Can anyone help here?

  Open the files in Quicktime Player 7 Pro.
  Go to Window > Show movie properties.
  Select the the Timecode track and delete it.
  Save the file.

  To tell you the truth, this is not very related to AE, because AE doesn’t work with the source’s embedded timecode.
