Adobe After Effects
I am trying to proportionately stretch or close up keyframes. I select them and while holding down the ALT key drag left or right but they are all moving in one lump. Can somebody tell me what I’m doing wrong please? Steve.

Proportional alt-drag / stretch only works if you’re dragging the first or last selected keyframe. If you grab one in the middle of the selection, they will move together as you describe.

Okay I had that right. When I alt-drag row by row it works but when I select all the key frames and do alt-drag it doesn’t work.
So this can only be done one row at a time and not with multiple rows? -
Nope, you should be able to do this across different layers and properties — but you still have to manipulate either the first or last keyframe in time.
Is it possible you have keyframes selected that are offscreen?

Its finicky…sometimes i feel like i have to select the keyframes alt then click…and other times i feel like i have to click then alt

I do believe where your play head (time indicator) matters as well.
