  After Effects, Or 3D Modelling Application?

  Hi There,

  I have a question about the capabilities of After Effects, and whether or not it would be a good application, or an easier one to do some 3D work in…

  What my goal is, is to animate a logo, which i have attached. Its pretty simple, i just want the little guy running, then to jump up to the star and end in the possition you see there in the picture.

  But is After Effects the program? or is it even possible? i’ve heard about 3D capabilities, but im kinda new to this as well, so i dont really know much.

  Otherwise, i have a little bit of knowledge of blender, so i could always model it through that..

  Thanks eveyone in advance! And sorry if my question may sound a bit silly, just wondering if its at all possible

  generally speaking, AE excels at 2D art placed in a 3D environment. You have 2D art and want a 3D effect so I would say it’s ideal.

  As Chris said, flat 2d work like yours is AE’s strength. By the time you buy a 3D app, learn animation, bones, deformers and everything else to make this guy run and jump…ae would have knocked it out in a fraction of that time.

  Just remember, if you’re buying AE just for this…it’s a bit of an investment simply to get a logo animated. You’ll still need to set some time aside learning AE as it’s not going to simply do it for you.

  If time is an issue, pay an animator to hook you up.
