  Y Position in Graph Editor shows negative value || Repeated Explosion

  Hey guys,

  I fairly new to Adobe After Effects and I’m trying to understand the value graph. I’m encountering a difficulty and I can’t seem to find an answer for it on Google, That’s why I’m asking here.

  So I’m trying to make a kind of explosion. A bit like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOZwzLgJw9o
  And I’m digging into the graph editor for a clearer view of the animation movement.

  

  But what does it mean if your y position value is in the negative numbers?

  By default, shapes start at a position of [0,0] inside the shape layer. This point in layer space corresponds with the center of your comp ([960, 540] in comp space for an HD composition).

  A negative y-value just means that the position point is above its origin in the frame.

  Thanks! I was making myself crazy. I thought: “Well the selected triangle is above the center point in my screen, so it must have a positive y-value”. I didn’t come to the idea that it is just corresponding with the center point. And that that is the reason why it’s negative.
