When I import files from Illustrator into after effects, the colors shift to a lighter, more pale version. The color codes are the same in both programs, but look completely different. I also will come up with color schemes from the website https://coolors.co/. When I copy the color code and paste it into the color picker in after effects, it shows me a much lighter, more pale version there as well. My illustrator files are in RGB.

When I am in after effects and create shapes from vector layer, the colors dramatically change to a lighter, less contrasted color. I’m attaching images of the before and after of when I do this. I cannot figure out what is going on.

Can you open up your project settings in Ae, take a screenshot of the Color settings, and post that here?

I have also tried the working space “ColorMatch RGB”

You’re seeing that difference because you’re linearizing the working space (which in turn means that the same RGB values correspond to different colors). Color management works on actual footage, but not on synthetic footage or color controls.

You can do one of several things:

    Uncheck “linearize working space.”

Use a Color Profile Converter effect to de-linearize the comp (either on an adjustment layer or downstream in a precomp).

Resample the colors manually with the eyedropper from the color-managed footage.
