  After Effects Crashes When Opening Project

  Hi again. I’ve been having an issue with another project. Whenever I try to open the project, AE freezes and crashes. I really don’t want to redo everything so any help is appreciated. I use CS6.

  I’ve tried:

  Restarting the computer
  Importing the Project
  Opening with Caps-Lock on
  Clearing cache
  Updating Drivers

  None of these worked.

  Hello,
  Try opening After Effects. Then go File>Open.
  When you select the project file, hold down SHIFT. That way the project will open without opening any Compositions.
  You can also use Caps Lock to open Comps, and turn off all layer visibilities.
  Then you can go through the project until you find the comp / layer that causes the crash.

  Sometimes I’ve had problems with certain keyframes on masks!!

  This method doesn’t work. After Effects crashes before I even get to see the project. It crashes while loading, in other words.

  …in that case.. How about opening one of your previous versions from the Auto-Save Folder before it started crashing?

  have you tried closing after effects and then Opening the project directly from its save file? this sometimes helps
