  • Automatic Z-Depth from JPG?

    Hello All,

I was just wondering if there is such a software exists that can create an automatic Z-Depth map from a common JPG please?

If there is no such software currently available on the market what would be the easiest way to quickly create complex z-depth maps from 2d images?

    Best regards,

    Lucas

Yes, but not for sequences at least yet. Not particularly easy to find either as it’s just one aspect of a plug-in for Photoshop and Affinity called Tapaz Labs Lens Effects

    https://topazlabs.com/lens-effects/

They also make Topaz Studio just to confuse things initially. Some of their products are stand-alones, some are plug-ins, & some just for Studio with crossover versions from the others. Got that?

Anyway, in Lens Effects, they’ve a Bokeh Lab.

Take a look at these vids & it’ll make sense.

Main point is, you can export the resulting depth map.

    Hello Sir,

Thank you for your response. I have spent a long time looking for a solution to create automatic depth maps. The suggested “Topaz lab solution” will work really well. I also have had it installed as a photoshop plugin already.

I just watched the suggested tutorial also which was helpful to explain how to use the plugin.

Once more thank you for the excellent tip!

    Best regards,

    Lucas
