    Hi all

    I am trying to control my Particular light emitter with a Null object, but this means the Particular light emitter doesn’t generate a motion path which my particles can follow.

    Any clues as to how I can get the light emitter, or any other layer for that matter, to create a motion path or a path of it’s motion, when it’s being controlled by / parented by a null.

    Hopefully that all makes sense, and i’m thinking it should be pretty easy to do?

    Anyone?

    To simplify, can I create a motion path from a layer that is already being moved / controlled by another layer?

    Not in front of Ae at the moment, but does it work if you create a new null, promote it to 3D, then Alt+click the position stopwatch and enter an expression like this?

    thisComp.layer("Point Light 1").toWorld([0,0,0]);

    (Please modify “Point Light 1” to match the name of your light.)

    You might be able to refer to it directly for your motion path, or you could convert the expression to keyframes for a direct, dense, point-by-point motion path.

    Hi Walter, sorry for the late reply.

    ‘or you could convert the expression to keyframes for a direct, dense, point-by-point motion path’

    How would I go about doing that? That feels like it would be the answer to my problems…

    Thanks for the help!
