Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Is this icon animation had been done in Aftereffects or c4d?

    Could be any 3D program that comes with a cel shader (toon shader).

    Thats not cel shading, just flat colors. You could render that in either AE + plugins (Element 3d) or C4d. You’ll require a 3d app to model, and apply materials. So going for C4d alone is your best bet.

    Edit: I’ll say not necessarely cel shading, I guess you could use 1 step cell shading, or just luminosity or any other way to get it flat. Its just that a flat color in luminance is faster then a stripped down cel renderer.

    I think you’re right Cassius – if it was a cell shader (even quantized), ten to one there would be changes in the “lighting” but with parts of each model having a specific color in the luma channel they would stay consistent through the turns. But it is hard to tell with all the glitch effects.
    We’re doing stuff today actually that needs the cell shader but can’t have light changes as the object turns, so we just linked the lights to the objects so the lights move with them.
