VR video stitching technique to get tiny planet but off centered
I’m looking into a way of recreating an effect I’ve seen in a Nike commercial that just came out.
It’s called “Nothing beats a Londoner”.
The effect begins around 00:44 and it seems like it was shot on a vr camera (cameras… I guess) stitched with the “tiny planet” technique.
What’s unusual in this video is the point of view, that is not perpendicular to the earth surface, it looks like the virtual camera is tilted up so that it is parallel to the ground.
I’m wondering if there is a way to recreate that kind of effect in After Effects and the camera I’d use is a ricoh theta, which I think automatically orients/stabilizes the footage so that the horizon sits in the middle of the frame, no matter how you orient the camera while shooting. Here is a link to the video I mentioned: https://youtu.be/n0j_CX1S2es?t=42s
