  • Why no edit interface when dragging clip from source monitor to program monitor

Posted by Reid Vanvoris on April 27, 2024 at 1:09 pm

Using Premiere Pro v24.3.0 (build 59)

Used to be able to create an edit to the timeline by dragging a clip from the source window to the program monitor. Used to be, an edit type interface popped up with choice to insert, overwrite, etc., the clip to the timeline.

Now I get no edit type selection interface and just the “no symbol” attached to the cursor. Was this drag and drop to the program window edit functionality discontinued?

If not, how do I activate it?

    Thanks.

It could be a bug related to your version of Premiere Pro you may have recently updated too. I would suggest trying to see if its actually at the latest update or to go to “Edit > Preferences > Reset” from the menu.

And if those does not work, try uninstalling and reinstalling fully. If that does not work for you either, you may need to contact Adobe Support for further assistance. I wish you the best!
