  • Get text from a layer in another comp

Hello, I have the following problem.

As you can see in the picture, I want to use a composition multiple times that takes its text from the name of the layer in which this composition is.

    Example:

    Text Comp contains text field

Text_Source Comp contains “Text Comp” twice

Text Comp -> New layer name: “TITLE NUMBER ONE”

Text Comp -> New layer name: “TITLE NUMBER TWO”

Is such an example possible to solve using expressions?

Or would there be a way to write text from the “Text_Source Comp” composition to the “Text Comp” (TITLE NUMBER ONE)?

    Thanks in advance

This is not an area I’m very familiar with, but I think you can do what you want with Master Properties. You’d add the text from your nested precomp to the Essential Graphics panel, then, in each comp that has the nested precomp you will have an Essential Properties section where you can modify the text with an expression (I think).
