  • Cache preview sometimes oddly short

Posted by Alex Ezorsky on August 24, 2017 at 7:00 pm

Even with the work area set for 4 seconds and preview set to play the work area, every once and a while I only get a 1 second preview.

I have tried clearing the cache, doesn’t help.

BUT, and for anyone assuming I’ve just got too high a complexity/resolution setting, when I restart AE it can play all 4 seconds fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Isn’t RAM preview length more to do with the amount of available RAM you currently have rather than the size of the cache folder?

Something in Ae is eating up your RAM. Instead of relaunching Ae, you can purge all RAM with the hotkey Ctrl+Alt+NumPadSlash on a PC or Cmd+Opt+NumPadSlash on a Mac, or via the menu system with Edit > Purge > All memory.
