Hey guys, so today is my first day of really trying to learn After Effects and I’m seriously struggling. I’d appreciate any help I can get.

Ok so to start off, I was following a tutorial which told me to use the Roto Brush tool to separate my subject from the background so that I can add effects and color to just him. I decided to use the Scribble effect to get kind of a discount “Take On Me” effect going, but it seems I’m missing a step to get the effect to attach only to my removed subject.

At the moment it looks like this https://imgur.com/8C0esVn
I’m thinking I need to connect the mask to the Roto Brush somehow? I’m not sure…

Sorry if this post is too confusing due to my lack of after effects knowledge!

    Hi Cory Coleman
Scribble effect work on the mask you need to make a mask on Person body then apply Scribble effect on it.
