Controlling timeline with markers?
Hi. Is it possible to tell After Effects to play a certain part of the comp marked with markers? For example, I create a face comp with various facial expressions such as smiling, crying, talking etc, and each is marked with markers (ex, smiling). Then I place the comp into the main comp and I can specify when to play “Smiling” or “Crying in the main comp. I used to use Flash and it was so easy to set up this type of trigger and control.

I see. This is more complex than I thought. I understand that AFter Effects is meant to be used to animate elements in the timeline and this sort of feature isn’t the main focus of the program. Inmy case my animation is a lot simpler than controlling this much of elements and I am wondering, how most animators organize comps when you animate something like character facial expressions? Do you create multiple comps or a single comp with all the options in it and trim the comp accordingly in the main timeline? What sort of approach would you recommend? I would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you so much in advance.
