  • Can’t grade MXF files

Hi all – I’m using MXF files for the first time in premiere pro, and although slow it’s been fine until it’s come to grading, where I’ve realised applying LUTs or adjusting Lumetri sliders has no affect at all. Other .mov files in the timeline from the B camera work fine, it’s just the MXF files (from C70).

Really nothing to show in terms of screenshots, literally nothing happens. And I’ve waited to see if its just a speed issue but nope.

Using version 22.5.0 (Build 62) of Premiere- latest at time of writing

    File info:

    Type: MXF

    File Size: 32.29 GB

    Image Size: 3840 x 2160

    Frame Rate: 25.00
    Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz – 24-bit – 4 Channels
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz – 32 bit floating point – 4 Channels
    Total Duration: 00:31:23:13

    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0

    Alpha: None

    MXF File details:
Wrapper type: MXF OP1a (type: SingleItem SinglePackage MultiTrack Stream Internal)

File generated by: CANON, EOS C70 (1.00)

AVC Long GOP High 4:2:2 Profile 10-bit Unconstrained Coding

    Thanks so much

Can you do a test by converting it to ProRes?

I would also just throw in that we have had some issues with 2022.5 – (mostly exporting issues), but rolling back to 2022.3.1 has resolved them. Seeing some general complaints about this latest version. Not a huge deal to test and roll back. That said…

We do all of our offline using DNxHD OP1a.mxf and don’t have an issue. I suppose it could be something with the C70 codec as well, but not sure?
