CAD file import to C4D
I was wondering if anyone had any feedback regarding a best practice for this ? 99% of my work in C4D is utilising existing CAD data (for product explainer videos), some of this is very complex / organic and can’t be modelled precisely enough in C4D I have found that in some instances a direct .STEP file from Solidworks is sufficient (but have to use box materials as UV is all over the shop), normally for squarer objects I can get away with thisCircular objects tend to be dodgy, so I have to import them into Rhino from Solidworks, and then either export as .FBX, which sometimes does the job (but often edges are quite faceted still), or in some cases I have had to Quadremesh, which has helped produce a better model with less faceting, but does tend to loose hard edge dataI was just wondering if anyone had a workflow that works well for them ? Or any input on settings / formats I might look to use to produce better quality renders out of C4D Thanks
