Video tools for laypeople to perform basic edits
Hi,
I’m a video producer at a nonprofit, and get a lot of requests from colleagues to edit their event videos, especially Zoom webinars these days, before I upload them to our Youtube. Typical requests include deleting the start portion when they’re waiting for people to join, cutting out a portion where there were brief technical difficulties, or adding a title slide such as a jpeg version of a Powerpoint cover they were using. So very basic video editing, that laypeople could likely do themselves, if I could recommend an appropriate tool. I’d be grateful for any suggestions. For video editing, most of my experience is with Premiere Pro or Final Cut, but I know there are other, simpler tools out there and perhaps even free tools, particularly for editing webinars and the kind of simple tasks I mentioned? For example, I wonder if apps like Canva would work? Or even online editing tools like Flexclip? Or maybe a very basic version of PPro, since these people are largely on PCs? The simpler the better though, to minimize resistance from users. Just don’t know much about such options. (My last experience with such apps was iMovie in the early 2000s.)
I’d appreciate any ideas at all. FYI, within Youtube I know there are simple editing tools, for tasks like cutting out the start of a video event. I’m looking for solutions to empower colleagues when they have slightly more complicated requests, but really any tools that would help them make these webinars upload-ready before they send them. Such requests start to add up, taking away from other projects on my plate, and I’d like to empower colleagues as well.

Just circling back on my main question here, in case any insights occur. Is there a simple-ish app that non-video-people could use themselves on their everyday computers, like Thinkpad PCs for example, to make basic edits to their zoom recordings if need be? I’d be grateful for any suggestions. So very basic video editing, that laypeople could likely do themselves, if I could recommend an appropriate/inexpensive tool, that could work for such people using regular PCs rather than high-performance Macs etc.

In looking around some more, Wondershare Filmora looks like it might be a good option.
So please let me know if anyone’s used that and has feedback.

I wonder if you came across Premiere Rush in your search. It is indeed a very basic version of Premiere Pro, which allows you to cut and add to your footage. The interface is simple and very appropriate for a layperson.
