Client needs to export higher resolution than their monitor offers
Hi, I’m editing on Premiere, but this isn’t exactly a Premiere question. I’m cutting together a product demo of a software interface. There are a few times when I need to zoom in on part of the interface. The client can only export their interface videos at around 2K. So, whenever I zoom in, the resolution looks bad. Is there a way they can export higher resolution videos that will hold up when I zoom in?

There are options like Topaz but from my experience, I’ve had the rebuild GUIs for scaling.
Sounds like you only have to do it a few times.
I build them in vector just in case.

Hi Eric, just to clarify, when you say “rebuild,” you mean recreate them in a graphics program?

Worth checking what codec the client is exporting to?
2K can be many things, but it is highly compressed MP4, you might as well not do it.Could be worth converting to ProRes or similar more stable codec, to check whether that will improve quality when you do zoom on that format.
Although this is not optimal at all, what does the Zoom look if you set your timeline to be 640 x 360?
And, then there is After Effects.
As Eric suggested, you might end up having to recreated the “screen shot”.

There are smart ways of doing this.
Pick the moments they want.
You don’t have to rebuild the whole GUI just parts of it.
Zoom in to the clip then do a scale-up and maybe a picture in picture of the important part of the GUI.
Again you have to prep these. Sometimes its the same looking GUI and its not hard to rebuild to fit.

You have capturing programs which can zoom in by themselves.
Also Windows has a function in accessibility to zoom in. Maybe that’s useful .
