Convert a stroke to a path or shape
Posted by Steve Hix on May 9, 2022 at 8:37 pmI have a PNG (created in photoshop) that I created a stroke for via Layer Style/stroke. I want to add a trim path to that stroke. How do I do that?

May 10, 2022 at 1:27 pmmaybe… use auto-trace, then use that mask to create a stroke (generate>stroke) use that to trim stroke, apply the layer style to the new stroke and it’ll draw on and off

May 10, 2022 at 4:38 pmYes, that does work. A lot of prep work for 50+ PNGs to work with. I was hoping for a simple “Convert stroke to path” script or something. I’ve been painting free hand up to now, even though not as accurate.

The only issue I see is that it creates the ‘stroke’ on the inside of the alpha but maybe that’s not an issue! hope this helps

…and keyframe ‘segment length’ to animate path. Not a lot of flexibility but it works.
Thanks.
