Caption Files that Write Themselves Out?
I work with Rev a lot to generate .srt captions for podcasts and other media appearances my CEO does. Does anybody know if there is a way to edit .srt files in Premiere to have effects? I am going for the captions to write themselves out, word for word, like a typewriter effect but with whole words and not a letter at a time.
I included an example frame.

Hey Juan,
I have used the Graphics panel to apply fonts, change size and move the text around that was placed on the subtitle track.

But not sure that you can apply a “word for word” write-on effect.
Might be “easier” to do, using After Effects. -
Thanks, Mads. Yea I wasn’t sure about applying effects on the subtitle track in Premiere. I do realize it is easier in Premiere but I just wanted to see if users have had success in applying effects to captions.

Depending on level of complexity that you are seeking, you might find the BorisFX title tool working for you.

Just checked, and Digital Anarchy has a free SRT importer here:
https://digitalanarchy.com/register/register_SRT.phpIn theory, as I’ve not tried to do ‘that’, you should be able to run the AE text layer inside your PPro timeline. Although you would need to go to AE to edit the text.
At this point, you might find it faster to key-frame (jump) a wipe across text inside PPro.
