  Two macs sharing storage w 10Gb ethernet connection

  THE SETUP

  2015 iMac with built-in ethernet to router for internet.

  OWC Thunderbolt 3 Pro Dock 10Gb ethernet on same iMac to second port on 2020 Mac Pro to access its local GTech SSD RAID

  This is working, but speeds are generally topping out at 150-250 MBps.

  How do I configure this setup to ensure the storage is being shared explicitly on the 10Gb direct connection. I suspect some of this traffic may be going through the 1Gb router connection?

  When your Mac is connected simultaneously to multiple network inputs, data flow follows a ‘service order’. In System prefs > Network, you can ‘set service order’ and place 10GigE or Thunderbolt bridge to the top and it will be used for data transfer.
