  Vertical Justification in After Effects

  There is a tool in InDesign called Vertical Justification in the “Text Options” (<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>⌘+B) where you can align your text within a bounding box to the Top, Center, or Bottom.

  I’m wondering if there is a way or expression that I could use to go about automating this same feature in After Effects? Calling on all the great expressioners out there to see if it’s possible!

  Using sourceRectAtTime() makes this pretty simple.

  Vertically center:

  rect = sourceRectAtTime() ;
  y = rect.top + rect.height / 2 ;
  [ value[0], y ]

  Align bottom:

  rect = sourceRectAtTime() ;
  y = rect.top + rect.height ;
  [ value[0], y ]

  Apply either of those to the anchor point property of the text layer.
